Glimmer paper butterfly

Glimmer paper makes bedazzling just so much easier! I love it!

The colors on the menu today are Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Black along with the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.
Do you remember when this butterfly came out last spring and everybody went absolutely crazy about it? I still get so tickled when I ran it thru the Big Shot. It's just so beautiful and so versatile. I've used it on cards, gifts, door prizes and it would look great attached to a hairclip if you want to make yourself look all fancy.

Tag topper punch smiles

Hi Everyone! I was busy with the Tag Topper punch the past few days. Besides making tags, it's nice to be able to use it in a different way.
On the supply list today is Tip Top Taupe cardstock, along with Watermelon, Wild Wasabi and white. For the stamps we have Hardwood (on the tag itself), Petite Petals, Gorgeous Grunge and Petite Pairs. The ink is Watermelon all the way and lastly for the punches we have Tag Topper  and Petite Petals punch. As you may have noticed I created the leaves by punching out Wild Wasabi cardstock with the flower punch and then placing them strategically behind the Watermelon flowers.

See how it's done! It's fun, fun, fun!!

Easter Chick

Curlable :
Joannapedia definition: ability to curl with ease.
Ribbon is curlable,  cardstock not so much, but the cotton paper is very much so! I love adding new words to my own dictionary!

Tiny Boxes  come all cut out for you and for $7 you get 25 of these cuties ready for you to put together. I started off by using Dots &Stripes stencils with a dauber and Whisper White craft ink. As you know, the nature of the craft ink is that after you use it, you need to let it dry so take into account drying time. I then ran a glue or you can run a tape to attach ribbon to the box. If your ribbon is 1/4 inch or thicker tacky tape would be perfect for it, if you use something thinner, then glue will be in order.
Now, lets get started on the top part of the box for which I used one of the free sets - Honeycomb Happiness. I stamped the chick in Daffodil Delight and cut it out. In order to attach it to the top of the box, I punched out two circles, bent them in half and attached one half to the chick and the other to the box. After that it's all fun playing with the cotton paper which I cut into 1/4 inch strips. Just curl it and attach it to the box. Voila! You are done!

Picture Perfect window

Ok, continuing the interesting facts on humming birds....
*They can flash their bright colors as well as hide them when needed.
* Their heart beats 1260 times per minute.
*They have very weak feet and can barely walk.
Now back to my slight obsession with this stamp set. Please tell me why did I have to stamp it 10 times over and over??? Oh yeah, because it's gorgeous and fabulous and fun to do! Thanks for the reminder. I thought I was loosing it.

Today I'm playing with the circle framelits. As you can see I'm using three different sizes and you should adjust the size to your stamp size. For the cardstock I'm using Black and Bermuda Bay and for the ink Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, black and Watermelon. Enjoy!

You are just the nicest

I copied this card from Mary Fisher. The strips of paper are half inch wide. It does look a bit complicated off the bat but as you start looking at the pattern it is not that hard. I mean, if it was that bad, I would not be able to pull it off, right? Right.
The paper that I am using is the Love Blossoms dsp from Occassions Catalog. It is the complete opposite of the Going Places paper which is very masculine and this one is all about being girlie with bright, fun colors. The base is Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride is framing the patterned paper. And the greeting, yes, you guessed it, it's a part of the Picture Perfect set. Enjoy!

You will need a 4 by 12 inch of paper.....

.... And let me show you how it's done!

Picture Perfect Wetlands

Do you remember when the shaker card craze came into existence 12 years or so ago?? Well, I do remember that very well!! Everybody wanted to make shaker cards because they were so much fun and so different and so advanced "for that time". Oh my gosh, I speak as if though it that was hundreds of years ago!

Today I'm using Picture Perfect and Wetlands stamp set as well as Gorgeous Grunge for the background. The cardstock today is Crumbcake. For the shaker part I stamped the birds with Early Esoresso and sponged the picture in Sahara Sand and Marina Mist masking  out the sun. I then followed directions for a shaker card. The starfish is a part of the Picture Perfect set and was stamped it in Sahara Sand on white. You can see that I added a bit of sponging to it for that special sponging effect . Hope you give it a try! Enjoy!

Telescoping technique and Blender Pen vs Aqua Painter

Yes, once again it was the moment that "I saw it. I loved it. I had to make it." One little thing I didn't realize was that the telescoping image technique looks way easier than it really is and thus my results are far from perfect.

I used Pool Party for the cardstock and I used blender pens to color the flower from Best Thoughts  and I did that in Pool Party ink with a touch of Bermuda Bay.
I know that some of you are asking the question as to why I used blender pen rather than the aqua painter. Let me tell you some differences and similarities between the two.

  • Both are great for coloring
  • Easy to clean - just scribble on scrap paper until the pen runs clear
  • Discolored tips do not affect the pens
  • Aqua Painters
    • Use water to fill barrels. (you can also use reinking bottles to fill barrels for larger projects).
    • Best for use on watercolor paper and perfect for the watercolor look.
  • Blender Pens
    • Double sided brush tip marker filled with solution to blend ink with ease.
    • Your "look" is more controlled resulting in deeper color, not as much of the watercolor look and more of marker coloring.
    • You can also use it with watercolor pencils.
    • For use on all different papers (from Whisper White cardstock to watercolor paper).

Sweet goodie bags

Hello there fellow stampers!! Today I'm going to show you how to make these cute goodie bags perfect for Valentine's Day!

I used Love Blossoms dsp paper but any cute paper will do.
Take 4 by 6 piece of CUTE paper and score on the short side at 1 and 3. Turn it and score on the long side at 2.5 and 3.5. Now cut the little slits to fold the bag together and you are DONE.

The greeting is from Honeycomb Happiness which happens to be one of the free sets that you can get thru the end of March.

Absolutely picture perfect

I have had my humming bird feeder for a while now and it's just so exciting to see these amazing little guys come and drink from it. And here are couple of interesting facts about hummingbirds:
* They are the smallest birds in the world.
* Their wings flap around 70 times per second.
* They visit on average 1000 flowers per day for nectar (or hang out at my feeder all day long)
*They are very smart and remember every flower that they have been to and how long it will take for the flower to refill (I wonder what their thoughts are on the never ending supply of "nectar" in the feeder?)
Enough with the trivia and getting back to the Picture Perfect stamp set......
I'm crazy about this bird! Seriously!! I just want to keep on stamping it over and over again! To get this wonderful image you will need four stamps, each of them responsible for different layer of the bird, which you will stamp one of top of the other. As you go thru the process, you will notice how the bird comes to life. It's truly wonderful.
Got it? No? In that case, let me just show you how it's done!

You are just so sweet - circle latch card

I want to shake some stuff this morning with this fun shaker card! Well, actually this is a shaker card which is also a circle latch card. See how the large circle tucks under the smaller one to keep the card closed?
For the cardstock I used Thick Whisper White for the base and the Blushing Bride for the inside. The wonderful heart paper is Love Blossoms DSP and the glittery goodness is nothing else but Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.

Yes, I found these cute tiny hearts at a craft store and they were just perfect for it. Do you recognize the greeting? It's from another Sale-A-Bration freebie - Honeycomb Happiness.

What I love!

What I love is free stuff and this is one of the free sets you can get during
The technique used here is called two step stamping although it really is a three step stamping that creates those cute flowers.
For ink and cardstock I used Watermelon and Old Olive and the greeting is from Perfect Pairings which is yet another free stamp set.
Check out the video to see how to use this set!

Bon Voyage

Ok everyone, if you have not seen Going Places dsp paper from the Occasions Catalog, you've got to go thru it. It's probably my favorite full on masculine paper stacks that has ever come out. Love it, love it, love it.
The map is one of the very many designs that come in it. As you can see I did some tearing all around and sponging in Sahara Sand.
The greeting comes from the Sprinkles of Life and the compass is from Open Sea but please don't ask me where the ship came from because I simply don't know. I got it a while ago and have not used it much until now. Stampin Up has a similar set called Traveler so check it out. Overall an awesome masculine card! Enjoy!
