Easy crackle effect on polymer clay

When I saw a video of Unruly Housewife showing this crackle effect I knew I was going to love it! I have spent time trying the crackle by either air drying the clay or using heat gun to dry it but the effects were not what I was looking for. Most importantly they were inconsistent. Using her technique you will get an amazing crackle over and over again. Make sure to watch the video to see how I did it.

I used alcohol inks to color the pendants.

I don't think that it really matters if you color it before or after baking. I colored the above pendant before baking it and the one below after baking. Can you tell the difference? I don't think so.
I would think that coloring the pendant before baking may keep the color better but I don't know how much it really matters as we put varnish on it in the end anyways.
